I am OK with the performance of my clutch, but I just recently read that

the ZX6R heavier clutch spring's are good for xtra horsepower.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"> I like

HP.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"> Simple question, is this true?

Yeah, KingZX12R claims the ZX-6R clutch springs are worth 4 extra horsepower. I don't know if that claim is true or not, but a whole lot of 12R owners have been using these springs (probably WAY before King ever knew anything about it) and no one has had any complaints so far that I've seen.

They are cheap + they don't hurt anything = Buy them and install them!

If you like HP, then put some miracle grow into the tank of the 6, set it in the sun for a couple of days, when it is ripe, you'll have a 12R. Then you'll have all the rwhp you'll need plus some to tow your other buddies' 600's.. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/smile.gif ALT=":)">

I changed springs back in March 2000 we found that the stock clutch was slipping you could feel it on the road. We played with tons of springs over the summer and I was previa to the new 6 also and they were the best springs of all. I have helped a few people out on the board who can verify that I would not tell you something unless I tried it myself. zxrichard, slopoke, bluzon, easy, and a few more check with these guys I like to think I am a stand up guy and I am here to help. I am factory sponsored by Kawasaki, Metzeler, and our local bike shops Brampton Cycle, Cycle Max, Bain Machine, And Hindle. I have been published in Cycle Canada, Inside Motorcycles, Compact Import, and will soon be featured on canadian dragbike. Just a bit of info for the new guys I'm not Rickey Gadson by any means but I have a seat time. If I can help out in any way let me know my home e-mail is on all my posts and I'll gladely give out my home number if anyone needs one on one help.

I have the 6r srpings in and while it sure made the clutch feel more "planted" and allows a better grip at engagement, I'd be real scepticle about hourse power gains. I replaced the springs specifically cause I wanted a stronger pull at the lever and a stronger engagement, and for this they delivered in spades, well worth the $50. 4 horsepower? doubt it.

50 bucks mine was 24..... Its has to stop alot more clutch slippage than the stock springs therefore more horse to the ground.. Just like on a dyno wheel slips it doesn't show as good of numbers as if it didn't... Logic only tells us that but for how much I didn't dyno test it therefore I don't know... May not build more horse but may well get more to the ground..... IMHO.....

If you was half as fast as your mom I'd be scared.......</p>

I definately don't want anybody to take my ?'s or answer's the wrong way.

It's all for the good of the 12 rider.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D"> \

The only way that I can think the 6R spring's could cause a HP gain would

be because the clutch is slipping, correct? If the clutch was slipping, it

wouldn't last long, would it? Also, The only reason I can think of that the

clutch spring's in the 6R would be stronger is if it had fewer spring's than the

12. Is that the case? Last but not least, are we talkin' peak HP or what?

Thank's for the info. I'll be ordering my spring's tomorrow.<img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/happy.gif ALT=":D">

new springs will not increase HP.But could increase power transfer to the road due to less slippage . the HP stays the same

This is a good subject, the springs definitly made hp we tried before and after tests on the dyno. Slopoke should comment on this one we just did his bike and showed it to him on paper. One thing to remember is we are talking about extreme excelleration that the clutch is slipping not everyday riding. The track is much harder on the clutch than the street as anyone can tell you. When you get your springs dyno it before and after you will see 3-5 hp gain in the top end power. If you are capable of 170 hp but the clutch slips then you are definitly losing hp to the ground, and so if you tighten up the slippage the hp will show on the dyno. There are six springs still and they are kawi parts so they fit no problem. You will be happy with this decision wait and see.
