There is that mod where they drill out the clutch. Is that mod for the 2000 model only, or can the 2001 clutch be drilled out too?

Here is the link you were looking for

www.zx-12r.org/Motorcycle_info/Information%20Pages/Just%20finished%20drilling%20the%20clutch%20and%20 resetting%20the%20timing_%20-%20L_A_%20Busa's.htm

However beware that some of these modifications are not proven.

The drilling of the clutch basket is most likely a good concept.

However drilling too many or too large holes can supply too much oil or not allow even distribution.

Before drilling any holes in your basket you should also consider that the basket spins at a very high rate, it is a possibility that you could unbalance your basket by drilling holes and removing material in a non-symetrical pattern.

Modification of any bearing surfaces is also something to seriously consider before attempting. It is possible to unbalance objects and create non-uniform wear.

Use common sense and be careful.

I hope this helps.

Yes I found that one before and saved that already. But what I was wondering, is it already drilled to allow in more oil. What's the difference between the 2001 vs the 2000, besides the part number and stronger springs.

Just found out, they are almost exactly the same. Since winter is coming. I am going to make an appointment for some work done.

Sorry I didn't understand your question.

No, the 2001 basket is not drilled for more oil.

The 2001 clutch has stiffer springs, a slightly longer actuator arm that is beefed up and an extra set of "slipper"? rings.

I upgraded my 2000 clutch with the beefed up 2001 actuator arm and 2001 clutch springs, I really like it and I don't feel there is any concern about slippage. However to my knowledge 2001 models did not manage the oiling any differently. They did drill out the oil sight glass more to allow quicker readings, but this is something I also did to my 2000 model.

The 2001 models are still in the air as far as clutch mods go, as soon as I find anything I will post it.
