ROLL-ON REPORT! 2000 ZX12 VS 2001 GSXR 1000.....REMIX!!!!!!

Aside from the rain we went out and did some runs today. :D

Both of us are lowered, piped, pc3r, race filtered, and geared 16/44. Total weight would be me a 10-15 pounds lighter. NO spray for either of us....at least for ME

6th gear from 45 ish to 145 ish (INDICATED)....

Gixxer jumps out a hair....but we're pretty locked.....but slowly the 12 starts gettin its lungs filled  and around 145 ish indicated I was slowly starting to pull....we shut it down right then since the agreement was to shut it down as soon as one bike starts pulling.

2nd gear I think thru the gears?? Close....and then it was all over

5th vs 5th....due to the rain my drenched glove slipped trying to go WOT Gixxer pulls 2 bikes.... But wait for it....wait for it......155 I walk by pretty strong...around torque peak I think?

VIVA ... EL .... DOSAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

Okay, so you are 10-15 lighter with 30 more hp.....

How did he walk you at all? Lower overall gearing?

Being realistic....you on his 1k, vs. you on your 12...and the 12 would get clobbered. That would be taking another 50 lbs. off of the Gixxer package.

1st of all Pillsbury you're supposed to be PRO-12, ya hater

But ANYWAYS

Definately internal gear ratios have a lot to do with it. 45 mph roll-ons in 6th gear with the infamous muzzy flat spot, and my nice superrich map :? means that my bike isn't exactly "crisp" down low like that.

To put it in perspective, the 07 gixxer 1000 my buddy rides who is only a little lighter than Todd, bone stock w/a slip on instantly jumps out several bike lengths! That was when I had 2.71 gearing. With 2.75 gearing I figured it would be pretty close....and for the most part it actually WAS which was pretty cool.

I wanted to see how much his gearing compensated for the lack of HP compared to the newer ones. It did make a bit of difference, although it was a bit like comparing apples to oranges because I made a gearing change between the 2 gixxers. Nevertheless, 6th vs 6th was indeed very close.

Again from 6th at 45 or so to 145 indicated the gixxer went from 1/2 a bike up to 1/2 a bike behind....pretty locked. And even then I was pulling but not by THAT much.

5th was pretty interesting....I scooted pretty far back and just tucked in and pinned it...ass was almost IN the rear seat because I was running w/the cowl taped to the tail section but no rear seat....just kinda wedged into that space :? I didn't think I would pull as hard in 5th, especially since my hand slipped on the gas going WOT since it was still wet from the rain :? ... that delay and him jumping out may have in a way exasperated my "fly by" at 155 indicated because of the delay and the 12 having even more time/distance to pick up speed...if that makes any sense....and starts getting into torque peak and ram air starts clearing its lungs.

Maybe he's better refered to as a realist ;-)

And if you can't hold onto your grips, maybe you should consider keeping that 600 huh?
Todd
PS: I just realized that the majority of 12's that run or that have ran(more then a few times or so) at Maxton(4 or 5 out of the 6 regulars I can think of)... have been from Virginia. Interesting is all.

My zx12r takes the paint of my gsxr1000 K6 after the gixxer (that I was riding) put 4rd then the zx12r takes off like I have a flat tyre.
In that moment my gixxer is full arata, PC3USB, on the back.

Then my friend did the same ass kiking in my zx12r with several gixxers and R1s.

The zx12r only needs some moods, epoxy the head, cut very short the muzzy canister, now Im using a huge short canister, 0.3mm off the head, raise the rev limiter and tune the bike. Im running 16-47.

Only thing I do not like with the 12 is the tire spining. It spins the hell out of the tarmac.

I just don't understand the point of a race against someone "gear-to-gear". Both in 6th from 45mph really doesn't make sense to me. What's the point of a transmission then? But even starting both bikes in 2nd is kinda weird because you still have internal ratios that aren't matched.

Any anyway, who cares? The point of a race is to know which bike can get somewhere fastest, not which bike can accelerate faster in 'x' gear or reach some speed in 'x' gear.

If you want to race from 45 to 145, shouldn't both bikes start in their optimal gear and then just row through the gears? You know, like a race?

Half the wheels is twice the fun!

Let me explain something. Given my weight, the weight of my 12, & my mods, I tend to be able to sooner or later get out in front of MOST literbikes, its just the way it goes. So I like to see each bike's strength and weakness....to see WHEN and HOW the 12 pulls, to see at what RPM, what MPH, what gear the tables turn. I even swap up sometimes to see the difference to see how much of it was rider weight vs the bike's capability. Its fun sometimes. If you do a high gear/low speed roll-on against a modern liter they WILL jump out, you may never get them back.

I let the 14 jump out in 1st while I was in 2nd:

on this one, I was way low in the RPMs to see how long it takes to get them back, if indeed I could:

Hell, I even tried different gears/rpms when rockin an old honda 600 against a ducati 996....just to see what would work:

Don't get me wrong, its all in fun. If I jump to 9,000 rpms or higher, its usually over quick. I like odd/strange/different/weird/interesting match-ups. Other times I'm doing my thang:

Hope this clears the air.

14 has only beat me once, when I was under 6k rpms AND gave him the hit, I think he was in 1st or 2nd, I was in 3rd...just cuz.

Most roll-ons with him, while not exactly killing him, end up about the same....I pull on him...more.....More......MORE. Even with stock wheels and -2 in the rear (those vids had me running 18/44 on stock wheels) I get him. But they can outwheelie almost anyone I know!

Relavent performance mods:

Airtech Fiberglass front upper
BST Carbon Fiber wheels
WorldWide Ceramic Bearings (Sal/Ace Performance & WWB)
40 shot dry nitrous (Cold Fusion from Skinart on the board)
Power Commander
BMC Race filter
Bear Short Stacks (Vincent Hill on the board)
Colder spark plugs
600 RPM Extended rev limiter ecu (13killa on the board)
Stiffer valve springs
Full nitrous race cut transmission (R&D Transmissions)
Full Muzzy Titanium (matt sterbator on the board)
Lowered front forks (matt s.)
Rear lowering links
636 rear rotor
No mirrors, signals, horns and other little odds and ends removed.

Soon: Cycle-Tek air shifter, Yoyodyne Carbon Fiber solo tail, cut down gas tank.

Total rider & bike weight: 595 on the scales a few weeks ago, goal is 550 with 1 bottle and me on the bike

Incorrect Mark. My street vids there say when I spray. When you see the 14 in 1st and me in 2nd, I reeled him in

WITH NO NITROUS

that quickly. Spray makes it worst. When I sprayed him in the other vid, it looks like I pull about the same because there wasn't that much spray left in the bottle as the solo run in the end of that vid was actually done before I sprayed the 12, I just edited the vid that way, hence why there wasn't much spray in it.

Hope this clears the air. Even if the 14 guy and I both had the same mods, I'd pull him. There is a 70 pound weight difference between us but piped there would only be a few HP diff....not enough to overcome the weight difference.
