FI light on..

hello all,

im new so be easy....
i do not have the manual yet.

2000 zx12 with a 02 engine in it (ecu was not transferred).
battery was dead and when started it FI light was on steady.
no loss of power no hesitating.
any ideas?
could it be related to a weak battery?
is there a difference between 00 and 02 ecu?
i was trying to search but couldn't see anything similar.

thank you
ron

get the manual and see pages 95-101 (from point 4-49). It has a self diagnosis mode. Maybe I'll find out what the problem is.
And yes, I think that is a diference between 00 and 02 ecu but I don't think that it should not be a problem.
It's not battery related. The FI light is only for Fuel Injection problems....but you said that the battery was dead. Did you get power from another battery (car) to get it started?

If the FI light is on it means there is a fault code present.

Instruction to retreive the fault codes are in this thread:

ok,
thanks for the link. i have already used it.
i came with code 15 (went through the pages as well).
however, 2 q.
1. this not the first time this sensor gave that problem (i spoke with the PO).
what can be the cause?is it common?

2. what are the risks (if it backed up by the ECM at a static pressure)

thank you
ron

Its either the sensor or the wiring to the sensor. There is an identical sensor on the throttle bodies, so you could swap them over and see if the fault follows the sensor. They are not very expensive though. Its not that common a problem.
