What did you do to your ZX12R ninja today?

Ordered my 12s first replacement battery. No kidding. It still has the same one that was in there from day one.

Rode it First time in a few days, lots of snow recently mostly melted by now. Changed gearing. Over the summer if you want to ride long distance here the gas stations can be far apart. So I was running the equivalent of 18-43. Gives you a few extra mpgs per mile. Also, you know how modern day bikes have traction control and well we don't. If you riding someplace new the taller gearing is traction control and can help you from say going off a cliff, crashing, etc..Softer on the engine breaking, accelerating etc...

So now that winter is here I cannot ride as much in the mountains. Most of the riding will be nearby town areas unless we have a warm up and we will. That taller gearing in town can get you trouble because most modern day vehicles are geared low and they'll tail gate you and run you off the road. I live near a metro. So to address that I switched to street gearing today 17-46. It's been a long time that I tried these gears so it will take awhile to get used to. I'm saying sorry sorry in the video because the lady has a lap dog on thesidewalk and her dog is timid. I mean that's a metro dog, we're not in the metro near it but not in it. Sheesh, none of these homes in the area she is walking her dog was even around until recently. This same area was all grasslands except for the road just a few years ago. That's Urban sprawl.

I'm only doing this as a shake down to get use to the new gearing so that when I do ride as the temps get colder and the roads more slick the acceleration is not so much a overwhelming surprise. Yes I'm not going pole to pole because this gearing is too tall for this elevation. If you want to go pole to pole you have to run gearing so low it sucks. So if alls ya got is a LOL THIS PLACE SUCKS WITHOUT PICTURES OR VIDEOS, that's fine because that's the rank imposter being revealed. To everyone else

I dyno my bike this summer. One of the hottest day of the year, not intentional planned that way. I had to make reservation plus work so it just work out that was the only convenient time. The density altitude at the time was 9300 ft, air, temp, humidity. Horrible conditions plus I rode their through traffic. By the time I got the bike on the dyno it was completely heat soaked. 165, 164, 163 sae. The operator couldn't get a tach reading, and he didn't tell me that until after, no AFR even with the pair clamped off, so pretty useless graph and it doesn't have all the fancy info like you see on modern graphs so I won't even bother posting it. The oil and air filter was on the tail end of service. The BMC filters had well over 5000k miles and it was completely stuffed. They say you're supposed to oil it, I think it's better without. Well after the session I end up doing the oil, switch to a clean set of oem air filters and I checked the map on the pcv. Installed on the pcv was the akrapovic map. I have the muzzy exhaust. I put the muzzy map in and combined with the new oil and air filter the bike easily picked up 5+hp. At the time it had about 35,000 miles. Compression and leakdown test [X].

BTW. This is the first time i hear my bike like this off of it from the side. MUST sound good from behind on the road. Also it got the tall gearing on it I just mentioned in the previous post. That's why it's taking so long to wind up.

Garage
Got the MOT done yesterday, it passed, I was told the rear brake was a little weak but I'd only fitted the black wheels with new tires so they needed a more time to bed in than the 1 mile to the MOT garage.

Anyway, today I went out to do some more throttle Position checks and noticed that I'd fitted the front wheel the wrong way round. What a muppet, still, 20 minutes later it was back the right way. That must be at least twice now that I've done that.

For Tech Questions Bike Model letters and Country are more useful than saying the year, for UK owners anyway, as registration year is not always the year of manufacturer model.

Winter is here so...

Put the bike up on stands. Gonna take it apart and check what service needs to be done. I already have a couple of things on my to do list... Gonna upgrade the fork internals and buy/install a new rear shock, new steering head bearings (just for peace of mind), check/service the swing arm bearings, new wheel bearings, got a new radiator (China made, looks like it will fit, remains to be seen though), etc... also the black car to the left needs some TLC....
