I think you're thinking about the big bore/stroker kit.

Ahh yes...I think your right, it was the big bore kit I was thinking of.

Hey I have a really important question for you & need your input. I just ordered my Akro system...I asked Doug @ Spencer if I need to / should wrap my header also. He said - not needed. So...my question is, does your bike run cooler w/the header wrap by not throwing as much heat at the radiator? Or does the header wrap keep other parts safe from excess heat?

I know in cars they suggest to wrap headers to keep engine compartment temps down...same concept here?

The header wrap was unheated in that photo. It's tightened up real nice after a couple hundred miles.

Word to the wise. You wanna take the 12 to the next step, wrap the header. My ram air temps went down about 20 degrees.

It's all in the details, gentlemen.....

Blitz, you don't have stainless steel break lines either? That's my next add-on. Then the springs in front, possibly Ohlins in the back. I wanna concentrate on the handling before I work on power.

Does the Akro require aluminum fan blades, or is it just the Muzzy? The combo deal at Spencer had an aluminum fan only for the Muzzy, not Akro....???

Zexxer...talk to Doug, I already have K&N's so he sub'd the aluminum fan for the filters (less a little money also). He was very cool about it!

Blitz, I'm leaning towards wrapping the header. I fucked up a few weeks ago & let my bike warm up / idle for about 10-15 minutes (it was 20 degrees that night). I went inside to piss & get my helpmet...to make a long story short, it got hot...the temp guage was screeming at me. <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:"> <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/mad.gif ALT=">:">

Anyway, wrapping should give more performance as you said from lower intake temps...plus I'm hoping it will help the bike run cooler. I'm not a big fan of how hot the damn thing runs!!

You have any good links where I can get some wrap? Thanks (once again!!) for your help!

Yes.... I agree with Doug. Not needed. Read: Not Necessary.

Doug is giving the same advice I would. It's not necessary. Operative word "necessary".

Here is where I stand on this subject:

1) If you are spending the major bucks a pipe costs, spend the $60.00 or so to wrap the header. The whole front of the bike, including the ram air is going to stay much cooler.

Want proof? Go to any AMA circuit race and find me one bike that doesn't have the header wrapped.

2) The thermal efficiency/scavenging of the motor is improved to a point to make the cost comparable to other performance add-ons. See: www.thermotec.com/tt/flex.html , they explain it well.

3) Do my Kleen-Air removal procedure. No HP to speak of, but NO backfire either.

4) PCIIIR is your friend. Buy one. They're worth their weight in gold.

5) Akrapovic is my mind an excellent product. I am a stickler for perfection and the bends and welds on these pipes are nothing short of art.

Thats all I have to say about that.

- Blitz.

I probably would have gotten red if they were available when I got silver. If I had gotten red, then red would be the fastest color. BTW, wut wax do you use? I'm serious.

Hey Blitz, That looks just my my green 12, only slower! <img src=http://www.ezboard.com/intl/aenglish/images/emoticons/laugh.gif ALT=":lol">

Nice bike though. I am curious why you didn't spray the wrap with the sealant they offer. I like it becasue it also hides the wrap as it is like black spray paint.
