So, this is using a ZX14 clutch basket correct? Are the OEM clutch baskets from the ZX14 prone to failure? Or is this possibly a CHEAP upgrade for 12R owners, meaning instead of having to buy a billet basket, we just buy a whole 14 basket and clutch pack, swap gears, and now we have a stronger basket plus a better clutch?

No. This is not a Cheap alternative. (At least not for me:). I am using a Billet Falicon 14 Basket that will have the Center machined the same as the 12. So right there, the idea of a quick and easy swap is over. But, from what the Owner said at Falicon, I do not think doing this will cost "MORE" than buying a Billet Basket and having them Install your Ring gear. So far I have bought a complete 06/07 14 clutch and will soon spend between (My Guess) between $4-500 for the special 14 basket with the 12 Ring Gear installed.

Once I have proved that all of this works on my bike then like I think I said somewhere send it to someone else like Color me gone and have him check it out, I plan to organize a Group buy of "5" or more to send me their Ring gears (basket attached or not) to take to Falicon and have this done.

I am leaving for a drive to Ohio and Rhode Island in a few hours and will look in on this from time to time. Hope to be back Sunday.

$4-500 for the 14 basket with 12R ring gear installed sounds reasonable.

We will see if a "Group" can do Better than what I will do for "1". I see the 14 basket at Schnitz is just under $500 for A Falicon Basket. But that is all Standard fare. Right now all I want to see is "R E S U L T S" and I will do what is needed to see than. Then we work out cost. 1 of a Kind is ALWAYS More Costly that 5 or 10.

Even at my Age, this is like reading a Good Mystey Book! I like the Idea of curing one of the Few Faults the 12 Ever had!! Some of you may not know is, I have Owned and "Loved" Kawasaki's since 1968. Rode and A-1 1968 250, owned an A-7/350, H-1/500 H-2 /750 , F-9 which I turned into an F-9R (BigHiorn RoadRacer), KZ-650, KZ 1000, GPZ900R (900 Ninja, ZX11 and ZX12! When I Rode the 14, "I" felt that Kawasaki had Ironed ALL of the Kawasaki out of it and turned it into a Honda!! My 12 was the Last New Kawasaki I will Ever Buy. As Such, (To Paraphrase) " I want it to be ALL it can be" that means the Best Bike Kawasaki ever made and to do everything equal or Better than ANY other Kawaski. I have not ruled out the Mechanical Centrifugal Supercharger to Kick some H2 behind:):)

Update, I was at Falicon who are busy working on the "NEW" 14 basket because of the slight changes Kawasaki Made. He feels that in a week or so they "Should" have some time to see what they can do for me. So if all goes according to plan, by the 15th of November I should know if this will work "Perfectly"! From speaking to Pierre, it looks like they did a study and welded up a Basket that did fit. Now to do it Right and have a Balanced with Factory like working ZX14 Clutch working in the 12. If anything happens sooner you all know I will post it.

I know this is an old thread but I've read through everything and was curious to what progress was made on this adventure.
