Well I finally broke down and purchased a full set of plastics from China...
This will be a build thread with all info for the purchase, questions, fitting, finish, etc...

I needed the upper and left side lower fairing... OEM pricing was somewhere in the neighborhood of $1600.00 for *just* these 2 pieces.
I purchased the entire set from a vendor in China for $468.00 For that kind of savings, I figured it was worth a shot...
Ordered via Alibaba (Aliexpress)...from a vendor called "Talledega Motorcycle Parts Store", lol, (in Guangdong, China...)
Order placed June 23rd...received July 22nd. ...not terrible.

For $468, I got every piece of plastic for the bike. Upper, L&R lowers, tail, tail cowl, tank cover, front fender, inners, ram air tube covers (dash area), ashtray (tank inset piece), winglets, and front lower (triangle).
Also included in the purchase price was a full set of fairing bolts, free heat shielding, free windscreen, ...and some horrible (red?) rim tape.

I will say that for the price my expectations were low...however, I would also say those expectations were exceeded. After unboxing and inspecting, the only real issue is two pencil eraser sized dings on the tank where your leg rests. But this will conveniently be covered by some sort of grip pad. Color match is perfect to stock lime green, nothing is cracked, nothing was missing. There are various areas where pieces were sat down before the paint was cured on the edges, and some paint rub occurred in shipping. I'm definitely going to need a small bit of touch-up paint.
I don't have the old plastics off the bike yet to compare weights or thickness.

Overall, *keeping the price in mind*, I'd say I am very pleased with the purchase.
I've taken loads of pics of every piece and the entire set, and will post them after I upload them to my laptop.
So, plenty of pics of the pieces and installation to come!

I have often thought of getting a set just to have a colour change but some of the fitment issues and tabs breaking have turned me off them maybe before fitting you could reinforce (fibreglass) any tabs or securing holes good luck awaiting pics

Yeah, I would have liked to have gone with a color change, but... with the lime-green rims on the 03... I didn't have much choice, since I didn't want to get into having the rims re-done.
Agree...trying to think of a way of reinforcing any tabs...

Full set.. For $468... I'm happy. Like I said, they're not perfect, but for <$500, I wasn't expecting them to be.

Tail, ashtray, tail cowl... no issues with any of these. Although I'll probably stick with the OEM black ashtray.

Tank cover... Will need new Kawi raised lettering, like OEM. Didn't want them to use decal lettering.
You can see the dings where your left leg rests on the tank.

Winglets, very nice.
Covers and inners are rough... unpainted, rub marks...hoping I can polish these up.
lower middle, very nice, clear coated...better than OEM unfinished piece.

...annnnd the "B" sides.
...the part where you get what you pay for! Somewhat expected. For <$500, I can work with it.

Front fender - clearly not cured before it was laid down. ...and it is the bottom edge - not like it's really visible.

Same deal with the upper - packaged/wrapped before the paint had cured. This will definitely need touched up as it's visible...
Close up of the dings on the tank - but this will be covered by a grip pad, so not a big deal.

That's actually not too bad Connman,

I too have often wondered about getting a second set for the bike, possibly in green like yours (do they do a A1 type green?). I wonder if painting the "B" sides in a satin or similar black would finish them off?

What quality is the front screen like?

Don.

Cool topic Connman, would you mind if I post screenshots of the fairing set I'm expecting for my 12 any time soon? Would be nice to get a comparison out.

Hi Connman its a shame they couldn't have let them go off before flipping them over especially as it would have cost them nought just a little time, but after you finish off the "B" sides and install them they will look great, and any doubts you have now will disappear, they look good to me Craig
