2003 ZX-12R exhaust question

Recently purchased my 2003 zx-12r and I'm not sure about the exhaust. I've been trying to decide what exhaust to put on (akrapovic, yosh, muzzy, two bros, brock), but I'm struggling because the exhaust on it is a slip-on with the spring and the shops only sell bolt-ons for the bike... And I'd also love some recommendations on which exhaust performs best with these bikes

Thanks all in advance

That looks like an aftermarket full exhaust to me. The factory tube doesn't have hooks for springs. The foxtrot exhaust has a big flange where the slip on bolts to it (from the factory has a catalytic converter built into it).

I honestly have no clue what exhaust is on the bike. I'm the third owner, the guy I bought it from never found out from the first owner. Maybe someone has seen one like it before? It doesn't have any name engraved anywhere on any of the piping.

G'day Camaromike!

Looks like you already have a full aftermarket exhaust system on it!

Or are you looking for a different muffler/can? The stock system had the bolt on muffler. Your system looks like possibly an Akrapovic or maybe Arata without stickers. Someone with better eyes may be able to pick it. I have a full Akrapovic and your muffler seems the same.

Do you have a power commander or similar and aftermarket air filters with it?

If you do a site check you'll find megadata on exhaust options etc,!
Cheers,

Don.

I was going to do a different muffler, I assumed maybe it was just some kind of off-brand full exhaust, but if it's Akra that's not so bad! I just personally don't like the sound of it as it is now

It might just need to be repacked!
I love the Akra sound

It could but the bike only has 13,000 original KM on it, I don't know how frequently repacking should be done as I've never had to do it on my other bikes
Also think a carbon fiber exhaust instead would look really nice if I do change it, hmm

I've fitted a newer Hex style muffler to mine. Originally for 05/06 GSXR1000. Must be 60mm inlet. Theres a carbon version too of course

Yours looks awesome.
Yeah the inlet on the exhaust is 2.5" so it's going to be difficult to find a slip on I think I'm going to end up changing the full exhaust

Do you mind me asking exactly what Akra it is you put and did you get a full system to make it work?

Mate, I have the same Akrapovic full system that you have on your bike. You'd be silly to get rid of it for another, as they're pretty much the best full system you can buy for these bikes.

All I've done is found the hex muffler and mounting clamp and swapped out the original Akrapovic Oval muffler from the full system, which is what you have there.
The Hex muffler was advertised as being from an 05/06 GSXR-1000
