Zx12r exhaust question based on safety needs. Want some help

I know this is a dumb topic but I need to try here. I have a 02 12R with the stock exhaust making the bike so quiet I cannot hear the motor over the wind noise. I ride in very crowded city area where drivers are pretty awful. That being said I need my bike louder not because I want to..
But cause I want to be heard since I'm not being seen. Plus rev matching is tough to get good at when your bikes rpms is hard to determine by exhaust sound. I hate looking at my tach just cause taking my eyes off the road is probably not a good idea. I dont need extra power I don't do mile and a half wheelies I just want a much much louder pipe.

Will cutting out the cat material kill the bike?
And what's the loudest bolt on muffler anyone knows of that's available now and who sells them.

I know was a bad idea but I did run without a muffler Got sick of being invisible next to a guy with slipknot at full volume on the freeway merging me into the median because he can't see or hear hear me.
2.675" id. 6 inch angle cut tip placed over the midpipe and it actually sounded unreal. The bike didn't ride much different either except I had an obvious lack of torque but not bad.
I know I'm an idiot but someone here must have some advice on how to make a 02 zx12r loud without spending $1000.
Thanks for any comments good or bad

I like the sound a Yoshimura bolt on makes, noticeable without being excessive.

For Tech Questions Bike Model letters and Country are more useful than saying the year, for UK owners anyway, as registration year is not always the year of manufacturer model.

I say, get a Yoshimura and LEAVE the factory CAT in place.

You will get the sound you are after, and you will not have that exhaust smell. You can always cut if off later if you want too.

problem is i did start to chop and pick and pry out the honeycomb but i decided halfway it perhaps wasnt a good idea and left half the honeycomb still in place and bolted the muffler back on. what i am stuck with now is the stock muffler due to other stuff i need to do to the bike. (oil change, new rear tire, broken turn signal). can i still cut out the rest of the catalytic honeycomb, bolt on the stock pipe on gain a little more sound that way? if so, whats the best way to remove the honeycomb if anyone has done so?
unfortunatly im stuck with the stock scuba tank size muffler for now.
thanks for the help as I have soooo much to learn but no one locally to teach me

easiest way is to cut off most of the pipe containing the cat, just leaving a little stub to fit into the muffler, and then theres just a tiny bit to cut out

btw did you want to buy a used yosh slip on?

actually yea if its not in too bad shape. you have any photos and whatcha asking for it?
I dont know if you know the answer to this but as a B1 Ninja owner i guess we are stuck with very slip ons from Yoshimura correct? Meaning the RS3 is the only choice for a slip on for my 02 12R? my budget sucks right now because i ran over a nail and now need a rear tire as you probably know for my post.

anyways yea send some pics! My bike is a wierd dark metallic blue that looks black over the standard gold color. I thought they didnt offer this color for a ZX12r any year. it looks black but looking closer its actually a dark blue metal flake. nothing to do with the muffler but figured id ask while im here.
thanks man

Under no circumstances chop your headers .Tip1 purchase a used Yoshi in good nik .TIP 2 purchase a rivet gun aprox 15 Quid B&Q .Tip3 measure & chop back to the Yoshi logo on silencer .Tip3 decat its not needed while your at it bang in some K&N filters my ECU handles this set up without paying £300+for a over priced power commander. If u really want a individual sounding zort at tic over its menacing when coming on cam awesome some BHP improvements bonus

Gilby..I'm an American so I should understand modern text-inspired fast typing whilst on a 3 day Adderal bender, but I didn't understand what your advice was about the cat. I wish I could afford a decent slip on but for now and maybe for a long time I'm stuck with the stock can. So I guess gutting the rest of the cat isn't recommended but it won't hurt much with the stock unmolested muffler.
And no cutting..I will not ever.

lol cannot see why your so keen to keep the CAT, you must be the only person on here who wants to ?, it's just a local point of heat build up and nothing more....does nothing apart from the emissons and lets be honest you won't join the tree huggers club owning a 12

That's exactly what I needed to here. Oh I absolutely want to gut that honeycomb garbage. I just wasn't sure HOW. now I'm gonna I guess chisel and snip? What's the easier way of doing it?

Old screw driver and thin nose pliers, when the last bit falls out stick your ear plugs in and start the bike...few blips of the throttle will remove all the small pieces which might have fallen back into the midpipe section....warning shes LOUD
