No oil pressure after replacing stator cover

My dad tip over my 02 zx12r which cracked the stator cover. I ordered one on Amazon( which shipped out from China ) for 40 bucks. The cover looks all right after arrival. I then installed it along with new cometic gasket and added oil to proper level. Then I started the engine but found out the oil light was always on. I could also hear the knocking. I left the engine running for about ten minutes. I revved it to 7000 rpm a few times but still no oil pressure.

I tipped over last time, when I started the motor, I could hear knocking, but it was only for a minute or so, once i revved it up, the oil pressure came right back....

What the hell is going on? Do I have a bad oil pump? Or is it just the design of the motor? What should I do next? How to prime the oil pump??

you probably hurt the bearings running it that long without any oil pressure.
sometimes you need to crank the bike over with the oil filter a bit loose so that the pump can prime its self after an oil change.

10 minutes without oil pressure?!! Seems like it would have seized. Maybe it has pressure but signal is not getting to bulb. Or enough pressure not to seize but not enough to turn off light.

Not just a great barbarian, the greatest barbarian, bar none!

Check the wiring from the pressure sender unit. With the work done on the cover it may heaven been dislodged in the process. Also, note that the cover can fill with water and mess with the connection.
