2002 zx12r cold start

When starting cold it will not hold idle and die. When using fast idle it will swing between 600 and 1500 for about 20 seconds before it stabilizes. Clean air mod, full Akro, pc2, k &n filters. I'm positive it's because of the full exhaust. What percentage of fuel are u running at zero throttle and at 2% throttle between 0-1500 rpms?

Don't know if this is exactly the same sort of issue as I had, but, I have similar mods to you - full Akro, K&N filters, PC3 & Ignition module, though my engine has been built to 1287.

I had an issue, probably due to the increased compression, causing problems starting especially from cold. The fast idle cable wouldn't give enough revs to maintain cold start running, so I would use the idle screw as others have done. The problem is, this would bugger up the mapping in the 0 to 5% fuel range in the PC (hope I've got that right, as KZScott helped with my fix). This was causing the fuelling to be constantly out of wack from cold idle. Fix was to set the idle screw to wherever I needed it, then download the map again. This fixed the starting cold issue, and subsequent starting when hot too. Scott or others may chime in to give a better explanation.

Hope this helps in some way, I learned something about PC's that day!

I should add that after it stabilizes it will go to normal fast idle at around 2500 rpms.

Was the bike running good at idle before you put the pipe on it? Did you add the pc with the pipe?
Is it a pc2 or a pc3 or a pc3usb or a pc5?

bike has 12000 miles on it. cold started fine before full exhaust. It has pc2 on it which it had before full exhaust. I had the same issue with 2000 a1 model after honeycomb delete and aftermarket can. The fix was increase fuel to 5 or 10 percent in 2% range. And change fast idle from 3% opening to 2% opening.. or something similar to that .

I tried 5 to 10 percent in 0 and 2 percent brackets. Just dont want to add too much without seeing what others have set. Cant say if it improved.

Interesting. i dont have the 250rpm increments PC2. At 2% at 1250 you have 3. Which seems to be the rpm range which is giving me issues. Does your ignition table have any changes in that range?
