I own a zx12r A model '01 I repleced my R-R this season and already it has fried again RMstator is replacing it but i heard threw rumors this model has a recall on from the oild dripping onto the stator wires . can anyone give me any info on this .#lovingmydeadzx12r
There is a recall for that. I just received an email from Kawasaki USA stating:
"There are 2 outstanding recalls. MC01-07 Tire valve lock nut cracking and MC 02-11 Oil seepage from alternator lead connector. Please contact your dealer to schedule a repair."
This was for my 2000 A1 model. Should be the same for yours.
Are you noticing that there’s oil on your wires leading from the stator to the R/R? I had the same issue and I thought that the oil wicking was the issue. Turns out after 2 r/r’s, a new stator and hard wiring the wires, a shindengen mosfet R/R seems to be solving my electrical issues.
Hi, ive had 2 stators burn out within a year, the cause was a faulty rectifier.... the oil recal is not oil dripping on the stator wires (its a wet stator there oil there all the time) its because the oil “can” creep up the wires to the connection plug with the rectifier which can cause a burn out. Get a new modern mosfet rectifier (especially if you have a lithium battery) and it should be good.
Good luck buddy ??
