I don't know if it will help any, but when I had my 12, I wanted to wear regular boots and I wasn't able to fit the top of my boot under the shifter for upshifts. I wear size 14-15. I adjusted the shifter rod to make it sit a little higher so I could fit my boot.

Perhaps with a little adjustment you will have a better riding experience.
