too much air?

I have a 94 Ninja 900 ZX9R...only runs decent if I cover air intake holes on front with tape... Never heard of an engine getting TOO much air?? Any ideas??

Sounds like it is running way too lean.

I hate stupid people.

open up the jets a bit (the same amount on all jets)... I will start with a 1/4 turn at a time, you wont know if it worked at idle, go for a ride and shift through gears..

2004 zx-12r Silver Bullet * Full Akrapovic Titanium * K&N filter * 17t sprocket * Kleen delete * RidgeRacer ECU mod (speed delimiter - torque derestrictor - 4' timing advance - rev extend) * PC3 * Speedo Healer * Hyperpro Steering Damper * GSG Frame Sliders

Your bike is lean like outsider said... done any recent mods to it?
What RPM range are we talking about? Does it idle ok?

There is NO SUCH THING in an internal combustion engine as too much air. There is however a situation where you don't have enough fuel for a proper mixture for the air present.. If there were a such thing as too much air turbos and the like wouldn't exist..

Check the carb air balance pipes from the top front of the carbs to the 2 spouts at the front in the ram air scoops. Chances are one has come adrift some where or the little filters are blocked with bugs.

For Tech Questions Bike Model letters and Country are more useful than saying the year, for UK owners anyway, as registration year is not always the year of manufacturer model.
