Went out today w/a buddy of mine, rides a bone stock 1000rr w/less than 7k miles on it. He weighs 165 to my 125. Whenever we do roll-ons I always blast em, which is to be expected. If I handicap him 1 gear we're pretty close.
So today (in the interest of science of course) we decided to do some more.
Recall that when running against a K6 w/a rider 70 lbs heavier than I that he walked a bit till 8k or so in 6th gear from low speed.
Doing the same thing w/the 1000rr and we were locked for a while
Then it was time to switch bikes. 8)
Holy FACK these literbikes are light as FACK! I kept inducing tank slappers on the hwy just cuz I couldn't believe it!
Anyways, we go for it.....2nd gear thru whatever: I pull him a hair but after a couple gears and rolling off he mentioned he was right there
3rd gear: Hit it......and we're LOCKED!
4th gear: Hit it.......and we're LOCKED AGAIN
6th gear and I took it a few times
Great little bike.....smooth and peppy to say the least.....
NOOOOWWWWW I know why you guys are having problems!
He only outweighed me by 40 lbs and we were locked on several gears! Keep in mind my 12 has a muzzy, BMC, Short stacks, and a 17 tooth on it in terms of HP. It does have a taller 180/55 tire which is almost = to a tooth down in the rear :?
I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND ALL YOU BIG GUYS LOWER, GEAR, PIPE, PC3 AND SWAP FILTERS IF YOU REALLY WANT A CHANCE! Hell I was on the slowest liter and it was bone stock!
Just as an aside, wind protection BLOWS on em. No matter what tuck I tried I couldn't 100% get out of the wind. Sideways head on the gas tank crouched forward, backward, chin on tank forward, backward....didn't matter. That windscreen is a JOKE!
Got me thinking about getting a 10 now for real......
........psh....yeah right!
A.
P.S. One run he was on the 12 in 2nd and I was in 3rd. Left me like I was driving the Geo! Pick the right gear and it should help quite a bit!
