Hi guys....new to the 9R board and have collected a ton of great info here, and now have a question that has been driving me crazy for the past couple of weeks!
I currently have a 1999 ZRX 1100 and really enjoy the bike, but for some reason this year I have thought that a change may be in store....a new ride maybe. The ZRX is heavy, not a lot of wind protection on the highway and I am finding myself always looking for that 6th gear on the highway tours!
The 9R has always been my second choice of bikes and I am currently looking at my dealers own demo he rode last year '02 ZX9R (gold/black), 1500km, full carbon fiber Akrapovic exhaust system, and he will install brand new tires on it.....this bike does not have a scratch on it, mint shape!
The money difference is not the problem....the problem I have is I don't want to regret going from the straight up riding position of the ZRX to the leaned over position of the 9R, I am 6'1" 180lbs. The 9R is such a smooth machine compared to theZRX and the Akrapovic pipe produces a sound like no other pipe I have ever heard.
We mostly ride the close by mountain highways that have good twisties and good open straight aways and a bit around the city. I took the 9R for a burn and my fingers got a bit numb but would probably get used to it over time I hope.....the 2002 gold and black 9R is such a beautiful bike, but so is the 1999 retro green ZRX!
Can anyone here provide me with a bit of direction (pro's and con's) as to should I stay (ZRX) or should I go (ZX9R).
I can not remember having such a tough time trying to pick and I can't afford to have both!
