Well I finally broke down and purchased a full set of plastics from China...
This will be a build thread with all info for the purchase, questions, fitting, finish, etc...
I needed the upper and left side lower fairing... OEM pricing was somewhere in the neighborhood of $1600.00 for *just* these 2 pieces.
I purchased the entire set from a vendor in China for $468.00 For that kind of savings, I figured it was worth a shot...
Ordered via Alibaba (Aliexpress)...from a vendor called "Talledega Motorcycle Parts Store", lol, (in Guangdong, China...)
Order placed June 23rd...received July 22nd. ...not terrible.
For $468, I got every piece of plastic for the bike. Upper, L&R lowers, tail, tail cowl, tank cover, front fender, inners, ram air tube covers (dash area), ashtray (tank inset piece), winglets, and front lower (triangle).
Also included in the purchase price was a full set of fairing bolts, free heat shielding, free windscreen, ...and some horrible (red?) rim tape.
I will say that for the price my expectations were low...however, I would also say those expectations were exceeded. After unboxing and inspecting, the only real issue is two pencil eraser sized dings on the tank where your leg rests. But this will conveniently be covered by some sort of grip pad. Color match is perfect to stock lime green, nothing is cracked, nothing was missing. There are various areas where pieces were sat down before the paint was cured on the edges, and some paint rub occurred in shipping. I'm definitely going to need a small bit of touch-up paint.
I don't have the old plastics off the bike yet to compare weights or thickness.
Overall, *keeping the price in mind*, I'd say I am very pleased with the purchase.
I've taken loads of pics of every piece and the entire set, and will post them after I upload them to my laptop.
So, plenty of pics of the pieces and installation to come!
