Hi everyone, I know this has been covered so many times and theres been heaps of threads started over exhaust's but i need a some opinions on a system for MY 12r.
the bikes got

  • Bmc filters
    Tps mod
    standard velocity stack mod
    Kleen air removal
and shortly about to get a pc111usb
now it will be a couple of weeks before i can afford it but ive narrowed it down to either a stainless muzzy system with the s/s oval can, the 20'' Brock's alien Head system or their street megaphone. I cant afford akrapovic so dont mention them:thumbup:
so whats your opinion?
cheers josh

It depends on how you'll be riding. For me, my riding is street from low to mid range RPM's mostly. For that reason I got the TiForce full SS system. I love it because a) it fits my performance range, b) it looks great with the visible collector, and c) has a nice sound without being too abrasive for my neighborhood.

If you plan to race or push RPM's constantly near the red line or if you like a loud, raspy sound you'll want something else.

If you could get the shorty alien head off a ZX14 or ZX10 that would look cool, im not to fond of the 20" myself. But I like the street megaphone :crazyloco:

I wanted a sidewinder for the longest time but then everyone explained how low it is to the ground and not good for the streets

With out without power commander, timing advance...and even with the pilot jet mod....the Muzzy just has terrible low rpm manners. It will improve with a good map, but not nearly as smooth as it should be. It doesn't tower over over the other's in hp, so there is no reason to suffer with it. I sold mine before trying the pilot jet mod (but had a custom map and timing advance)...too many band-aids for a sub-par design.

I did ride mine like that for around 18k miles....but it was definitely lacking in the low rpm range where you use it around town in traffic.
Hmmm. I have a Muzzys on my 12. It made good power and it was really cheap.

Here is the rule here.....if you ask you will get tons of feed backs and of course most of the feed backs are from experiences and some from what they have heard, so gather all that you get and do your own homework by spending time searching as much as you can and decide. What you like may not be what the next guy's cup of tea :king:

This Forum is unlike other Forums I have been on.........you will get tons of info, some you may not like but most you will find very useful

No, NOS is the addiction....LSR is the cure.

A few threads to shine light on whether the Muzzy has low-rpm issues for most people:

As I say, I lived with it for 18k miles...with a power commander, custom map, and ignition advance. It was ok, but certainly not very smooth or safe in the 2.5-3k rpm range. I'm not trying to give you a hard time...but, as I say, the Muzzy exhaust issues are very well documented. I don't want to steer someone wrong who is looking for a good street exhaust.

Before I bought my 12R, the prior owner also told me it did not have a flat spot. But once I rode the bike around the city, it was a very obvious issue to me. I put my issues aside, since it sounded great, pulled hard up top...and was included with the bike. But if I had to buy a new pipe with my own money...no way in hell would I buy the Muzzy for the 12R.

Congrats though, on your apparently perfect combination.

I wonder if the Muzzy Pro Pipe will be better.

racing on a budget, the Muzzy can be a good deal. usually 300ish used

I like the Hindle step tube a lot better tho...
