My bike had an attempted theft of it last year, as mentioned in a couple of other posts. they did not get very far with it. they dropped it a couple of times, once on either side, causing cosmetic damage, but mechanically the bike is unharmed. There is no evidence of it having hit the ground while moving.
However, by the time the ins co added up all the parts that had even the slightest nick or mark, the bill came to over $6 grand, just to make it look new again, so they wrote it off (the adjuster had earlier said that they would repair it but she was mistaken).
Now the bike is available for me to buy back as salvage. All it needs to ride exactly as it did before is a new ignition switch. The ins co is offering me $6525 total if I just take the money, and $4150 total if I retain the salvage, i.e. keep the bike.
THe question at this point is, is a mechanically perfect but cosmetically rashed ~6000 mile '00 ZX-12 with a salvage title (I assume thats what it'll get now?) worth ~$2400? should I fix and ride it? should I part it out?
what can I sell? what are the big items worth?
