I was out at the battle of the borders bike races today in NC. I have been running 7.00's for last few weeks and it seemed like I was getting stuck there. Today, went out 6.95, feeling pretty good. Again 6.90, even better. After a water, 6.85 best so far, let bike cool, 6.81, best of the day today. I was spraying nos in 2nd and they werent printing time slips so I couldnt check my 60 foot times. They have to be decreasing. Times are slowly but surely.
I came up with a mental check list while about to run. Goes like this T>P>R>
T= traction, do I like air pressure, spring load etc. Do burnout roll off towards lights.
P=Position. Am I in a good launching position, Is my head down at windscreen edge, Is my wrist cocked up? Am I laying on the tank with both feet on ground, ready to go. Is my visor down, just personal preference on that. After this I roll into lites.
R=Revs. Am I at the rpms I want to launch, Is it more or less than last time, too much for the track too little.
I know its simple but makes a systematic approach toward being consitent. I hope this helps others it helped me towards fastest times.
