put a rag around a 2x4 and stick it through the rear tire. it will lock up against the swingarm. no tool needed.
A Little hard on the Transmission Gears and Dogs. Get the Motion Pro Holder then pick up and Electric Impact Gun from Harbor Freight Tools for about $90. The last one I bought was no more than $60??

Here is mine no difference. I would suggest to anyone doing work on their bikes to spend the $50 because it cannot be better spent specially in the middle of the night when there is no one around to hold the bike while you take a lever long enopugh to lift the World!

Waay back in the day (read early 70's) my very 1st clutch holder was 2 steels welded to a piece of tubing and looked just like the factory holder. made 1 for every bike I had. That is also (a few years later) I got my first Sears Electric Impact. It lasted for close to 30 years.

Last, very good posting about the Dangers of using the Vice Grip style Clutch basket Holder. Actually never thought about the dangers. I think I wil; drag mine out and go over the edges with my Dremmel using a Rubber Abrasive Wheel. Then wipe with a little Oil. Also as stated, it does not need to be very tight, it is the ridges on the basket that do the work, not like a tight grip on a smooth surface.

The main reason for an electric gun for "Me" was there was usually electric at the track but never air and it takes a lot of electric tl run the compressor not to mention that air hoses are harder to deal with than a cord.
