I haven't heard all the slip-ons for the 12, most people tend to spring for the full exhaust since much of the weight and HP restriction is in the headers too.

D&Ds in general are usually one of the cheapest and loudest, but not the "good" kind, more like the super loud but harsh, ratty, tinny, metallic sound. I suppose anything is better than stock though

D&Ds don't capture mechanical noise very well. Several of my gixxer riding friends have them (go figure) and they sound decent to the uninitiated, but to everyone else they sound like A.
As far as HP gains go, A free flowing slip on and a gutted cat will give 4/5 ther performance of a full system.

I have a d&d on my 12. while it isn't the best performer (as I've read everywhere) I ohnestly say it does wake the bike up a bit. As far as loud goes, yes i believe it is somewhat louder than other sil-ons, however only at a standstill. Once you are moving it isn't really that bad at all. I bought mine used just to see how it would perform over stock can. I've put it on and off several times and i actually perfer it on.

Well, you got the canister for $70, that isn't that much. Presuming you are somewhat new to the bike enjoy it for now and if the HP is lacking and/or the sound isnt' up to your liking you can always sell it. Full systems can be had for as little as $200 used, you just have to look around and JUMP on that right deal. I have bought 2 full muzzy systems for $200 and sold one for the same. You are freeing up some HP and making it a little lighter, so can't fault you for that.

But, for example, if you wanted more power, less weight, or shoot nitrous.....full system. Quite a bit of the HP restriction is at the headers too, they are a bit smaller than aftermarktet ones.

But for now, enjoy what you have. This thing is a BEAST!
