I just did an oil change. I used Castrol 4T (2.9 L) full synthetic, with a 2008 Honda civic filter. It is a little longer then stock so it takes more oil, but fits behind the triangle piece perfectly.

My mechanic must have filled my oil while it was on the side stand. I put my bike on my front and rear pitbull stands and I noticed that the site glass was completely covered in oil.

With 2.1L it was filled just under halfway, started her up the oil light went off in 2 seconds, then shut her down. I then topped off the oil (the oil level dropped to just under the site glass) with about 0.8L, bringing it back up to just under 50% of the glass.

A Honda Civic filter? This sounds interesting. Is there something that makes it a good choice to use on the 12? Being a car filter could there be a difference in the internals compared to a motorcycle filter (I'm thinking about pressures or valves)?

I like that it's longer so I'm assuming more internal filter area.
I have seen a bunch of debates on if it is good or not. So far I have had no issues using car filters. I have for 9k miles on my bike (16k total miles). It's just so much easier to get car filters at an auto parts store. They also carry 4T full synthetic oil.
