Hello everyone i'm new to this board. I own a 2002 zx12 and my wife owns a 2000zx12. A friend of mine owns a 2002 gsx1000.
02 blue stock 153 hp- rider weight 210
02 gsxr stock 138 hp- rider weight 300 same dyno same day. 16 hp advantage zx12!!!
I beat him barely with my 12 from off the line and low 1st gear roll-ons thru the gears up to 150 or so then my 12 starts to pull. Must be a combo of aerodynamics and hp. However, if we roll on in the same gear at any given speed his bike pulls mine by a couple of bike lengths. Hmm! I then geared my bike (one down in the front) and we raced again. This time i beat him from a 1st gear roll thru 4th by 3bike lengths or so. We roll on from second or any other gear. (We both start in the same gear) and this time its about dead even race with the 12 barely pulling. Both of us take turns saying go, much like the fastbike video guys doing it. Who ever hit the throttle first got a slight advantage, but both agree the sprocket change gave the edge to the 12. He then gets a pc3r and akro pipe, 1tooth in front sprocket. (Result a 10 hp gain.) He now beats me on rollons by a couple of bikes. We took the bikes to the dragstrip in roswell nm 3500ft. I ran a best of 10.72@134mph. and riding my buddies gsxr1000 netted 10.99 132.68. I had a difficult time keeping the front end down otherwise the gxr would have gotten a better mph reading. My whole point of this is do not underestimate gsxr1000. Once I get my yosh pipe I should be able to take him.

Here at altitude everything is slower. I'll have to admit my drag racing skills do need some work. The suspension was set up as i ride each day and the rear tire pressure was at 35lb. 1.86 60ft-(weak yes). it was really slipery because the 4cyl. guys were running their non slick vehicle cars through the water box, leaving water droplets all over the place. I made three passes on my bike and it has maybe 1500 miles on the odo. Altitude sucks, I have a mustang that runs 12.40 at 110 mph at 5200ft. I ran the car in phoenix 1100ft. and the car went 11.7 @116mph. I've seen when we had a drag strip(albuquerque nm track closed now) stock zx12 run as slow as 11.2@127 mph in the qtr-and 10.7 like myself with a guy turning low 1.7 60ft'rs. Right now i can only dream about a 9 sec slip. Theres is close to a 20% correction factor for altitude. In fact when i said my bike made 153hp it had a correction factor of 1.21 sae. I bought the straps and dogbone for my bike. Ill probably go one tooth up in the rear as well. Maybe a 1270 or 1317 from muzzys would help. Any other help would greatly be appreciated :(
