Well did you actually get your bike after two weeks like the dealer said?

No, I'm not a Kawi dealer...

And no the bike has not shown up yet....dammit !
(I would have posted otherwise)

It should be soon though.... The way it's supposed to work is...at the initial release, every dealer will get just one...the rest will show up in march.

Well, where do you read KAWASAKI in my post :shock:

 

I'm gonna have some awesome deals on the Muzzy pipes for the 10...
I will post them here as things unfold with this bike.

Looking forward to your tuning results on the 10r. I followed Ivan's advise on my big bore 9r and i must say I was extremely happy with the results.I hate to sell my 9R but I have to make room for the 10r.No one can belive the power theat my 9r makes now.

 

Well guys,

Don't expect to see the 10R until at least April.....the last word that I got was that they were all recalled back to Japan for transmission problems.

Too bad....they should have used all/most of the same parts from the 9R w/shorter shafts (smoothest tranny out there).

I hear another 6 week wait on release date. Dealer in North Conway,NH told me that today. The transmission has the shaft stack one above the other to short wheel base. The 10 suppost to be short than the 6 in wheel base. Maine winters suck got new zx12 in garage with 52 miles on it and 12 of then i put at 22 degrees in december to bring it home from dealer. 12er

Seems they discovered some unexpected problems with the transmission when they tested at homestead.

 

That's the same bulliton I read at the bike shop yesterday. Does somebody have the article or link to the test in Homestead where all the problems are to have happened.
The old guy at the shop without even seeing the article figures KHI went to aggressive or got carried away on the undercutting of the gears in the transmission.

Feb 2004 issue of Sport Rider and Motorcyclist. Kent Kuntsiguni (sp) outlines the problems which were:

Missed / False shifts
popping out of gear 4 and 5 under hard accel

He went on to say that both 10r's had the 'worst transmissions he had seen on a japanese sport bike in years'
To Kawasaki's credit they did pull the bikes in and replace the shifter rods and some other components of the transmission with little or no improvement.

Kent did state that his calibrated ass mounted dyno indicted the 10r had 'incredible power, probably more than the venerable Gixxer'

I won't be getting one this year - gonna wait for the next production run in 2006.
