As many of you know, helibar has offered a new bar for the zx12 this year. They just released the bar about two weeks ago and they raise everything 2 1/4 inches. The bars are supposed to fit 2000-2004. However, the left side bar has been milled incorrectly. Therefore, the microswitch for the clutch does not clear the riser itself. As a result the clutch lever is unable to rotate downward to a normal position. As it sits now, the clutch lever is about 2 inches too high and as you try to rotate it, the microswitch gets caught on the rise.
It's kind of hard to explain.
I called helibar in Maine. They said they had sent several out and no one else has had any problems. (I thought may be no one else has installed theirs yet.)
At any rate, they were very professional, and very willing to look into the problem. They told me to send the bars back and they would check it out. They also said, if there was a problem with the bar, they would refund my shipping expense. I was very pleased with their customer service people.
I wonder if anyone else has installed the new bars or if I am indeed the first one. If other people have been able to install the new bars, then mine were just incorrectly milled and I will take to a place here to mill the rest of the "microswitch notch."
