Mine Fit

Well Guys,

Right about the time this post hit I had ordered the new higher bars. Then the "They don't fit" replies started coming in and I held off trying to put them on. Jaime sent me the even newer "more revised" bars with a call tag to return the old ones at no charge, just like the rest of you. They arrived and then the "They still don't fit" posts started...so I'm thinking "darnit".

Well tonight I couldn't take it anymore so I went and tried to install the left bar just for shits and grins....

It's installed and everything fits.

A couple of points here. With the new bar you can slightly angle the clutch lever downward before the clutch microswitch wiring will slightly rub the riser portion of the bar. This will happen for about 10-15 degrees of downward rotation then it will clear again. On my bike (2002) it's only a very slight rub and I could live with if I decided my favorite angle was within that range.

A permanent no doubt about it fix that'll make everybody happy? Make the left bar 1/4" longer, move the locating hole for the turn signals/horn/headlight cluster outward that 1/4". That'll in turn move the clutch outboard another 1/4" and will let everybody out there rotate the lever to their liking.

Ciao :D

One Pic

Here's one pic for comparison between stock and new. You might have to login to view the pic as it's in the photo gallery. No more brain power left to make a cool link

Only have the left side on for a trial fit. Probably be up and running by Sunday. Doing the Kleen air removal, wheel polishing and lowering links thing, so bike is kinda apart.

RE: Unknown Person

Guys,

I'm probably the one Jaime was talking about. Left hand bar is good to go. On my bike you can rotate the clutch lever to your hearts content, but right side bar still needs a little tweaking before it's ready for mass shipment. The locating hole for the throttle assembly needs to be relocated so the cables will clear the fairing when you approach a full left turn.

The president/owner of Helibar called me this morning and we had a talk about the problems. I'll be sending them some pics hopefully tomorrow. Right now his local dealers don't have a ZX in stock for him to borrow so it may still be awhile. Nice guy and I know their only goal is to put out a quality product.

Anywhoz, I have the bars on my bike and rode over to Bremerton on Saturday to get my bike mapped by none other than the infamous Mike Velasco. 140 mile round tripper.

Da bars are sweet.

I don't mind being a guinea pig cuz it doesnt' take much time to swap em' out and with no local bike currently available, I'm here to help.

You'll all be happy when they get the kinks ironed out. Trust me.

Re: Helibars

now that is a mod i would like to see
Well buy a pair and you too can see!!! :D

The throttle assy, kill switch assy and turn signal/horn/healight assy are all located on the stock bars the same way. The bars have small holes drilled in them at certain locations and the above assy's each have a small locating pin that fits in the holes in the bars.

So, for example, when you install the throttle assy, you move it around till the pin goes in the hole and tighten down the screws and there you have it...the same location each and every time.

All heli did was rotate the hole about 90 degrees, rotating the whole throttle assy and moving the cable routing to under the brake lever.

Actually puts less strain on my wrist when cruising. Keeps the ol' wrist to arm position more straight.

Try em'....you'll like em'.

Take a view of the throttle cable routing on the ZX-9 for an idea.
