I've heard nothing but great things about this oil and on their site in the racing section they mention that the 5 W 30 was used in motorcycles. That's what made me ask the question. I think I'm just trying to be a cheap skate and use the rest of what I have left from the last case I bought for the truck. I will look into an full synth bike oil and go with that! Thanks!
Chango - I hope you didn't feel like I was saying that you were being cheap... I wasn't; I just didn't know anything about Schafers, so I figured caution was the best course to advise... For the record, Schafers might be great!! If you're happy with it, that's what matters!!:thumbup:

I did not see 5w 30 on the list of viscosity> However I was wondering if someone ran the 5W 30. If so is it ok?
I have run 5W 30 Motul 300V, so it wouldn't be unprecedented... But I did it for my "cold season" oil change... I usually run 10W 40 in hot weather... In fact, I've got some 15W 50 that I'm going to try this summer...

IMHO, the 5W 30 might be better for cold weather...

I'm sure of the quality of the oil I choose (opinions vary, of course), & I would advise you to check the suitability of the "Schafers 9000 oil" that you mentioned... I Googled it & found lots of reference to Diesel trucks, etc., but nothing about bikes... THAT MIGHT MEAN NOTHING!! But, still, I'd check their website for specific recommendations... Just my $.02...

Synthetic oil will not leak any more (or less) than conventional oil... Many, MANY of us here have run synthetics for years without any increase in "leakage"...

A good quality synth will run in your 12 just fine!!:thumbup:
