I have a 2000 12R, and had the problem back then. Since then, I've had zero issues. I think you'll find me info on the thread from hell regarding this.

However to save you some time, I'll paraphrase~

1. Locate oiled up connector

2. Disconnect momentarily and drill a small hole (3/32nds) at the lowest bottom where oil collects.

3. Go to True Value and buy a 3/32nds aluminum tubing (about 3 ft long.)

4. Insert tubing into connector from bottom. "Mushroom" end radially inside connector so it holds in the black plastic and drains the oil.

5. Route the flexible tubing along the frame and have it dump on top of your countershaft sprocket.

This has been working for me for over 55,000 miles and 11 years. My connector can never "fill with oil" as it drains as some as some wicks up the wires. And, it lubes my chain, lol!
