I guess its for backpressure and I would assume to keep the heat down on the exhaust. I just sold a damaged Jardine (posted as damaged) that had a brown burn spot on the Carbon Fiber that was not there when I bought the pipe. Im assuming the pipe overheated which is wierd seeing as how CF is supposed to cool off pretty fast. This pipe was smoking hot everytime I touched it after a ride.

Looking for a polished yoshi RS-3 or a muzzy slip on now to replace it. Dont want to take a chance at a CF can catching on fire like one of the other guys in the forum.

I wonder how you get a hot spot when it's a straight through muffler, go figure. I could see it if there was a baffle it bounced off of. I left the packing in for now, has a nice raspy sound when taking off but very smooth when cruising. I didn't put it back together with rivets, used screws so I can work with it for awhile. I likey.
My thoughts exactly, I did notice that the baffle inside the pipe was easily moved. I could of easily gutted the pipe by taking the outlet endcap off and the baffle and innards would have slid right out.

Ive never a exhuast that allowed for so much movement of the baffle but then again, all my pipes were either gutted or too expensive to cut.
