Sounds like you should get the twelve, should be better for highway touring. I have ridden the 10 and am prob going to get another one but its not great for touring. I have an r1 now and its a 1 hour bike, meaning I ride it for an hour and out it away because it hurts. Wrists, back, and balls, all hurt if ride it more than an hour. No problems on the twelve like that though. 10 is a cool ride, only bike that has gotten in front of me on the street too, I like them, just in small doses. Liter bikes are too small to be comfortable though, unless I was shipteey's size, then Id ride a pocket bike and be comfy all day.
