Hey guys,
....I appreciate all the feed back! This is my first fuel injected bike! I am old school. Carbs and headers. I was hesitant about going fuel injection, but all my friends convinced me that this was the way to go, and so far so good. On all my other bikes when you slapped a header on with the stock jetting, it ran lean, backfiring out the exhaust ect. Go up 1 or 2 sizes on the main jet, raise the needles a half notch and the difference in power was very obvious. Now with this fuel injection i am totally lost. Seeing guys with computers hooked up and tuning their bikes seems overwelming to me!
uzzled:...As stated as far as i know all this zx12r has on it is a full muzzy system. It pulls hard without hesitation. When you let off the gas you have the crackling sound comming out the exhaust(no backfiring). So that tells me it is running lean. Problem is i don't know anyone with a zx12r with stock pipes to compare it to.If it is running lean, can the difference in power be as dramatic on a bike with carbs once the mixture is correct? Is there a simple way to find if it is running lean?:headscratch:I was talking to a mechanic today that told me to disconnect all the pollution (clean air i think), and that would cure any cracking and possible lean mixture. He also told me that this is all that is needed to get even greater performance out of my bike, and that there is no need to buy a power comander.I read an article back in the day where muzzy took a 2000 zx12r and installed one of their pipes, changed the air filter, tinkered with the fuel injection and ran a 9.50 in the quarter mile. I could do a search, but i think i would understand better from getting some feedback. Where do i go from here? I want to spend the least amount of money to get the best bang for the buck. I would appreciate you helping this newbie out.:runaway:
