Hey, I was just doing some speed in gear calcs, thanks to a program on an f-body site, and accordiing to my calcs, the best the 9 can do at it's redline in top is 163 mph. How are these mags getting 170+ out of this bike? I've seen as high as 177 mph quoted in some mag tests, such as MCN going at it at Nardo.

Is the redline just set silly low on this bike or whatzup?

Ram air won't help the fact that the bikes revving past the redline with the gearing it has. And since required horsepower to go a speed increases with the square of speed, I don't hink it's going to help a ton there either. It's not that I'm suggesting it doesn't work, it's just that it ain't adding 40 hp or anything.

Shit, how much grow do you think it has? It's not a top fuel tire. If it grows much more than 1/2 an inch or so it'll come off the rim from the narrowing effect, I'd think. It's a radial and they can't move that much.

OK just redid my calcs and if we get a 1/2 inch of growth off a stock tire which is ~24.75", we can bust 170 mph at 12000 rpm on an '01. I think I can accept 1/2 inch of growth on a radial at full chat. It won't be much more than that.

THESE ARE GENUINE SPEEDS ..I have tested through flying quarter miles with correct timing equipment

thats what we need, not bunch of calcs and guesses, buy a gps, and just see for yourself like the busa&12 guys do..

There's a big difference between calcs and guesses. You can make a mistake with a calculation, as I did earlier, but, a guess is a mistake, nearly for sure. A top speed calculation is nothing complicated, just a measure of gearing, max rpm and tire size. Not rocket science here.

The GPS isn't a perfect system either, news flash.

Please, you buy the GPS and do it for us. Then we'll know and we can stop our upsetting calculating and guessing. :lol:
