According to my Kawasaki regional sales rep...
...My Kawasaki regional sales rep called our store and was asking how business was etcetera. We started talking about the hope that some of the new models would drive traffic. We specifically talked about the Vulcan 2000 cruiser (2053cc) and the zx10r. He volunteered without me asking that the zx10r will put out 170hp at the crank and weigh 365lbs. This guy is not big on technical stuff and doesn't give us alot of info on upcoming models but whenever he has given us advanced info it has been accurate. If this info is accurate then the zx10r beats the power to weight ratio of the Yamaha R1 which is advertising 172hp/379lbs (we all now know that that 180hp number is ram air enhanced) .466 for the Kaw and .454 for the Yamaha.
Question: Do bikes vary alot in terms of their efficiency converting crankshaft hp into rear wheel hp or is there a pretty standard percentage of power lost through the drivetrain. Inquiring minds want to know (I want to know).
