if you want the best protection and light....... Kangaroo leather! Hands down, lighest leather out there offering great protection.

NOW.....with that said, it'll cost you double the price of cow leather!
(for obvious reasons)

I have a technic jacket for my everyday toss on jacket and I bought a one piece race suit from these guys: Velocity

Nice stuff and the guy knows his stuff!

I compared a cowhide jacket to a kangaroo when I was there, and I was BLOWN AWAY at the difference in weight.
When the time comes for another jacket, it will be a kangaroo.

And yes they are just as durable. He had a womans custom kangaroo suit their that he just got back from "repairs". This is her 3rd season on the suit, and she has been down before in it. You can tell its well used but its still in fantastic shape. The one arm piece was torn up good (not through) but obviously she wanted it repaired before her season started again.

Also make sure all the armor is CE certified. A lot of times the back "armor" is just a strong foam piece.

Icon Asphalt Technologies, black. Hands down the best looking jacket with a lot of protective panels to keep you from skinning your upper area. I would recommend a pair of good but cheap $75 Bilt boots as well.
