Just thought I'd post up my 9/10 runs

Phantom12 and I get my 12 out to the spot. New carbon wheels aren't competely alligned but thats another story. Head up with 2 little bottles. Say wussup to the rest of the Ace guys and met some of the others (1eye, etc.) Crank up the steering damper. Do a shakedown run w/Sal, he's on the orange 10. Decide to come out HARD and up the 12 comes cocked to the side (axis of bike and the front wheel). Let it down, lil slap....Sal has a few bikes on me already. Deep in 5th the 12 starts weaving around (most likely due to the 120/70 tire being too tall for the lowered rear). We locked around 4th I wanna say? A good 5 to 8 bikes but I got off of it w/the weaves. Park it, yank the strap.

About to run Deezuhl and his 10, he's bitchin and moaning about not spraying him so I turn the bottle off ( ). Head out and a few people caught my FLAT ASS REAR TIRE ). Phantom chases me down before I stage up and stops the run thankfully. Puttputt to the gas station, 10 psi in the rear . I think my day is shot but we fill the tire, get back to the spot, a few shakedown passes and its holding psi, still weaving. I tug on the strap a teeny bit more but not really much at all, suspension is barely compressed. Needed to yank it more to help w/the weaves but oh well.

We roll out, he wants 5-6k rpms cuz of the 10's long 1st gear. Cool. We go, I'm a little more cautious, he rolls out slightly, maybe a couple bikes??? Hand clutch into 2nd, clutchless 3rd....4th.....I"m walking by him slowly but steadily....then somewhere before redline BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!! Popped outta gear and I'm on the limiter He pulls back up and is now 1-2 in front. Clutch it, we're about even 5th...6th.....done. He got me but I think its safe to say I woulda had him had my gear not popped out Whatever, a win is a win. He isn't trying to hear my gear story but come on now, a bike slowly creeps past and then you pull right back, both n/a w/similar thrust? Either someone rolled off, mis-shifted, short-shifted, hit the limiter, or the gear popped out. Whatever, I had him, but I was weaving around a bit too still

Next run, I spray. Didn't yank the strap down far enough and I knew it was gonna be a hairy ride (understatement of the year). Once bitten twice shy, I roll out softer now, shifting earlier and hand clutching (tranny on my mind). He's pulling away slowly. 3rd, 4th, I'm tapping the button for 500rpms or so just testing out the gears. Its holds ITS ON! I get on 5th....whipping around BAD! Fack it! I'm running outta distance but the spray is doing good...reeling him in and its at the point where I should really have stopped, but who wants to lose to a fat ass on a 10 n/a while you're on a 12 spraying? 6th gear I'm staying on it but really whipping around violently, fack it do or die Come by him, thoughts of highsiding @ over 190 and into everyone watching rush through my head. I stay in it "just enough" to make sure I win and make sure I don't wreck....with lots of sleep dep its a very fine line to walk. I think I put 5 bikes @ the finish, really it coulda been WAY more had I not weaved or had tranny issues, then again he was also down on power that day so both of us had our issues to say the least.

LOL people are like "Shiphteey we thought you were going down (AS IN WRECKING) w/that thing weaving all around!" Had to prove the point though, its one thing to say "yeah my bike is weaving..." another to come flying by @ 194 showing it so people know I wasn't full of sheeeeeiiiit. Thought about yanking the strap down harder to really get it more level w/the rear but we all said fack it, ain't worth it.

Head out, Deezuhl and I roll it ad hoc. Trading spots back and forth. Basically whoever hits the limiter or short shifts is giving up a bike or so. I start whipping around at about 180s in the same lane, decided to say ENOUGH. Next time out we will be sure to line up and i will make sure the bike is 100% stable and set-up right. I'm sure he'll be a little quicker w/more tinkering ... as will I for SURE .

GOTTA SAY THANKS TO SAL AND PHANTOM FOR THE HOSPITALITY AND TIPS. Had Phantom not caught up and stopped the run for sure I coulda been done as in RIP. I REALLY APPRECIATED THAT! JESSY, IF YOU EVER NEED TO BORROW SOME LEATHERS OR BOOTS AND DEEZUHL....Not sure how much more MPH you can squeeze outta that little 10 ... might I suggest loosing....oh....50+ lbs so as to not handicap that poor torqueless 10 Reminds me of when I tow my bikes with my 993cc geo metro

If you guys are ever in the DC area, don't hesitate to stop by. I have a pretty safe place you can crash, leave your stuff, couple rooms and whatnot.

1EYE: Tell you or your buddies I'd like a lane, don't really care who. Had quite a few issues as you saw this time out so once they get ironed out that 14 is TOAST!

Thanks Deb and Todd @ Twin Juggs, they loaned me a back/chest protector, helped out w/the baggyness of the suit .... oh yeah, its safer too along w/some safey suggestings for the 12.

Overall I had a hell of a time, wish I coulda stayed out there longer. There is a lot of potential w/me on the 12 but things like minimal safety and sub-optimal tune are holding me back from really stepping it up. Rather than focus on all out speed I need to focus on the whole package, the speed, just like track day, will come with consistency. When your mind is cluttered, you're sleep deprived, bike doesn't start, no chain guard or heel guard, yada yada yada, it really takes away from your focus. All those little things, even some aero stuff rob you. You only have 20 or so seconds to get it done, thats it. Gotta be on your A game. Lesson learned.

And who was that squid who flipped his bike? Ah who cares

Thanks again to the Ace Performance guys, what goes around comes around!

Warp: Not 100% sure on the transmission but since I plan on adding more HP (and I don't see myself being "easier" w/the throttle  ) I'll look into getting some work done. Maybe have em cut like the drag racers do. We'll see. When I get back we'll have to go out and do some practice runs when my bike is running "Straight" again....18/44 to 17/46 sound like a fair handicap again?

Phantom: No DOUBT we will have to party next time. 2006 I have been doing too much QUANTITY running everyone and not enough upkeep and QUALITY!!! I will be refocusing my energies.....glad I did Bonneville, Maxton and the 9/10 all in 1 year. Wanted to try for 200 mph @ 9/10 for a hat trick but ET is the name of that game.

Shane shane shane.....you are too funny today! Must be some of that residual buzz from the 24 pack you had last night for new years eve....did you even share ONE with Racheal?!?!?!?

I just realized something: Top speed of an A1 minus Top speed you have hit ever is a whopping

12 miles an hour....

..... you thinking what I'm thinking?

Haha....no ego man.....

Why would it be dented anyways? If I was running right with no technical issues and I put that number up w/no wind I'd be ok w/it. You saying you can take me with 17/46 while I'm on 18/46? How much are we putting on that? Better make it best outta 3.....what w/the tranny issues

Shane...how come you spent money de-restricting your 12 when it only goes 184 anyways? W/the same amount of $$$ you coulda got a dry shot like Doc and had tremendous PULL thru to your limiter.....

How much weight you planning on losing? New years res?

I'm definately getting the tranny taken care of before texas/maxton. Probably going to go quickshifter/pc3usb/ignition module and ditch the ancient archaic pc3r.

While I'm at it I may as well do valvetrain. Not sure about the 60 shot, even w/an extra fuel pump. Supposedly stock pistons can take a 70 shot......60 for a mile? Man I really want it though

Maybe 40 shot w/2 bottles instead of 1 for the FULL 40 the whole DAMN MILE!!!! Better than nothing :?

DAMN! Someone got called out pretty hard!

Shane, you will not be able to see Doc @ the strip or @ an LSR event unless you go big bore w/tuning or a bottle, plain and simple. If you're going to go into the motor then do it already!!!!!!!

Otherwise drop in a lil 20-30 shot since you're paranoid about your motor's condition and run Doc w/those lighter wheels.....

And nothing wrong with an 18 tooth sprocket ya know .... do you even have one?

Shane, I ain't ever heard of a dumb doctor

Ice: What does "built" mean? You mean all motor?

Bergie went 202?
Jon Wennenberg went 204 or something?
The 1427 cc zx12 from around my area went 203.6?

Spray bikes would be:

Mine @ almost 203 :x
Vincent Hill's bike almost 200
DocRyan went 186 stock header
Jim Owen went 218

I presume "built" means n/a.....just wanted to clarify because if Phantom is going for Jim Owen's 218 that would be BAD-ASS!!! I know the record stuff is tight lipped so if you'd rather not say I understand

If Phantom comes out I'd like to see his 1290 n/a go faster than my 1199 on spray. That would be very impressive ... unfortunately though you've already "impressed" most so even that will now look ho-hum

Phantom........................................here Phantom-phantom-phantom.........come and GET IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hoooooooooooooooooooooooweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee I wanna see it....you did it to the 10, I think the 12 can get it done too....

On a side note Ice, do you think its possible for a 12 w/virtually the same mods as Deezuhl's 10 to hit 205 n/a like you did @ Maxton....why or why not?

Thanks

Ummm....I may be the tape expert here....

Packing/mailing tape (the type w/the stringy stuff in it) held @ 199 but peeled @ 202 on my windscreen) still held the cracked windscreen together though

Painter's tape has been good but my bike isn't always the cleanest so when its dirty it doesn't work well (what a surprise).

Ducttape holds up well too, supposedly more aerodynamic, beats me.

In the hot days ducttape and electric tape wasn't doing so well (bonneville) but masking/painter's tape did pretty good. zzr1200 out there used it for his, he only went 160 but no signs of it peeling back.

I'd use painters since its lighter  than duct tape and electric tape.

maybe scotch tape is lightest? annoying peeling that crap off though, it never comes off right :x
