Any one else have this issue: On classic 900 LT, When starting from stop light, etc., as I lift my left foot back to the floorboards, my heel often catches the heel shift pad and I end up in neutral....rather embarrassing in the middle of the intersection....Is it just me or is there a design problem witht he position of the heel shifter?

I also have the 900 classic, and this style bike is new to me, as is the heel/toe shifter. I don't necessarily hit the heel part of the shifter when moving my foot back, but I don't always get my heel correctly positioned on the heel pad. This produces non positive shifts. My shoe size is only a 7 1/2, and therefore I have to definitely move my foot from the front to the back. Basically I still prefer toe shifting.
Since I have only had this bike for about 2 months, I chalked it up to my needing alot more practice with this style of shifting. A friend of mine just doesn't use the heel shifter on his Harley. In another forum, I read of this guy in Canada who just bent the heel section out of the way, and another just cut that section off.
For the time being, I will continue to try getting used to shifting this way. I hope you will be able to work thru it, and enjoy riding your vulcan.

I have big feet too and hit that darn thing all the time. I agree it is no fun in the middle of an intersection. I have thought about cutting it off so I am glad to see that someone has already done that and with success. I may be doing that this afternoon.

Only way to get anything out of me is way too many guys all at once with the same bikes and all just joined. Show me your bikes and we can start with some diagnosing. Until then, TROLL is a TROLL is the same guy messing up this site, no?

Only way to find out is show your bikes. And if you all stall about no knowing what a jpg is, well BS on your posts too! :rotflmao:
