well i guess a little more info would help. Have you changed the fluid recently? if not you may be long overdo. Is the thermostat stuck? That would be one of the first things to check. Next would be air in the system. Outside of that I guess I would check the fan itself. Is it working? you said when you tried to install a toggle switch it doesn't seem to work. That could be either the fan or sensor is bad or something with the wiring.
i actually thought it was the resevoir i saw somw crud in it and i cleaned it out and put it back on and replaced fluids,i was thinking thermostat myself too might be sticking how do i check that though.
If your saying it goes from 1/2 to flashing immediately, try cleaning the electrical connector on the back of the gauges. Is any fluid going into the overflow tank from the radiator?
i would bet it's the thermostat or air in the system. Bleed the system and see if that helps. The thermostat can be checked in the kitchen to see if it opens & closes but not at what temperture. To check it run it under cold water first, boil some water in a pan and slowly lower the thermostat into the water if it's not stuck it will open. If it doesn't open replace it.
I don't see how the fan could rotate in the wrong direction unless you reverse the wires on the fan motor directly. The sensor only closes or opens the connection making the fan run or stop.
If it still overheats after making sure the radiator is full... look for a
blown headgasket. Hot exhaust gas goes into the waterjacket,
superheating the radiator fluid.
To check, take off the radiator cap, and put compressed air into each
cylinder. You'll hear air bubbles coming from the radiator... if you have
a blown gasket.
k bro's im headed out now to test the thermostat and check radiator it self i wasnt even aware of the radiator cap all i saw was reservoir will let you know results in couple hours
I'm tired of dicking around with this thing i'm headed in the morning to look at 06 zx14 and busa.seems like ive spent more time fixing the 2000 12r then riding .thanks for all your help
