ordered the hotbod undertail a few months ago. its a pain in the a## to install. all you get from hotbods is the bare minimum bubble wrap(barely enough to cover it. the corners were scraped to bare fiberglass and no directions. you will have to get directions of the web site. the last time i checked, you have to use thier directions for the zx9.the pics on thier site are sorry, so its really guess work . the fit is good, just take your time. if it comes rubbed on the corners, wal-mart carries the lime-green from Testor(model paint). also, a dremel is an excellent tool for the job. take your time and it will be good 2go. check and recheck your measurements before you cut. you also might want to get some better fasteners for the last two fasteners near the tail light. i almost forgot, raise your tank up for the 2 screws up front. it will save you time in the long run. good luck. by the way, a small bungee(6in) and a couple of small drilled holes will hold your computer in place just fine. hope this helps

I did find a good source for paint thinking I could paint the undertail myself (in CSR):
http://www.color-rite.com/store.cfm?&DID=49&BikeNo=3962

Don't know if a pint would do it or not...PINT and QUART prices:

Paint............$92.95 $139.95
Clear Coat....$34.95 $ 49.95
Reducer.......$16.95 $16.95

TOTAL..........$144.85 $206.85

Then add $19.99 to ship it and the paint alone will cost as much as the undertail if you use a quart up!

speed,

they also sell it in spray cans as well, around $100 for the base, the color and clear coat. THat should be plenty for the undertail, but once again, an extra $100 and your time. I would suggest the cans if you have other parts you want to paint too, can be great for color matching a lot

Installed Hotbodies Undertail. Perfect paint match. Easy install. Looks great with the built-in turn signals.

Installed their hugger. Did not fit correctly. Holes didn't line up and chain guard bends away from the wheel in the back. I will be sending this one back.

Installed targa Hugger (carbon fiber). Perfect fit. Much more $ than the hotbodies, but at least its a high quality piece.

Also installed 17 tooth front sprocket. What a difference a tooth makes! Highly recommended.

Blue, here is a question I have for you, you said you are returning the hugger to hotbodies, let me know how that goes. A lot of dealers are excellent at getting you the item, but when something goes wrong, they want nothing to do with it. This goes a long way with customer service. With the other huggers from they looked very good, could it be that you just got a faulty part? I know this does happen once in a while.
