riding a 2000 zx12 right now (need to be move comfortable) I'd like to sit up straighter to get the weight off my wrist and have a better leg position but still keep up on straight's and in the corners(i ride with a zx10 and a zx9 and a 1000rr).I've started looking around and like the Concours 14 and the honda st1300.any one road both or any thing else i should look at? i'm 6 ft 250 pounds thanks for any advise.

if you can ride and those people you ride with just ride fast to have fun you can go fast enough to be happy. but at 680lbs if they put on a race face forget it.
i have a red A1 like you do and the connie handles very well, gets good milage when not thrashing it and turns quite well. if i would not drag race my A1 i would not need it. most dealers are letting people test ride the connie. if you pay 22000 for the bmw then you must have the BMW gene and there is no hope or you are rich.hell ride both of them.

i don't want to race them just not be left behind if they go 120 mph, and i don't want them to have to wait for me at every stop sign and end of every twisty road.i'm starting to think maybe i'll go 1 more year on the 12 so i can ride my project one next year and keep an eye out for a deal on a used sport tourer.

Maybe a 2002+ model?

the 14 will probably run 155-160 mph if you want to run faster than that you wil have to change brands haha, like the man said put some risers and a different seat on it and enjoy.i only have about 18kon my 14. 87k on my 04 they are both good bikes as far as im concerned theconcours is the best kept touring secret there ever was.ps install a audio vox cruise control for the ultimate touring pleasure . michael de

Definately give the Concour 14 a hard look. It has won several comparisons and if memory serves me right it was Cycle World's Bike of the Year in 2008. I love mine, especially with the slip-on, flies out and pcv. Different tires make a world of difference in the handling. While the C14 will not accelerate as fast as your buddies bikes, it does move out and will run big numbers all day. You should not have to worry about holding them back. I had a blast at the DG rally on mine last year. With the 2010 model out, there are some really good deals on left over 08's and 09's. Although if you can spend the extra money the 2010 has some nice improvements.

jragates - I don't have any specific suggestion, but I would listen to the guys steering you to the Concours...

Grumpy is telling you right... He was smooth & fast (& looked effortless doing it) at Deal's Gap for the last rallyment... Admittedly, much of that was rider, but the Connie definitely gets it done!!

What bike!!!

Hi, Ive had a ST1300 and then a BMW RT, and up untill recently a BMW GSA, Had lots of fun on the ST, lots of warranty issues with both BMW's and the RT needs to be ran on super unleaded here in the UK, Just taken delivery of a K10 GTR( concours) elsewhere!! Fantastic, 800 mile is 6 days quiet, quick , seat is so comfortable, loads of extras as standard. my mates got an FJR which is now old hat in the tech dept. Try to GTR i'm sure you will love it!
