Will the complete clutch basket and inner hub out of a 2002 work on a 2001 zx12? Anything different from the two? Checked kawasaki web site and the clutch basket is a different part number.

Jim, it will work, the 02 and up is supposed to be a better design(stronger and better oiling). even though the 02 and up basket is better, you should still get a billet basket for your wheelie bar bike. that thing is going to be hitting hard when you get the slider dialed in! 8)

i have a 2000 , and all we did was the mod that was posted years ago , and that was to drill out the inter hub , never had a bit of trouble with it

EVERY piece from EVERY year is interchangable.. does that answer the question???????????????? 56.8-57.6! you want to be on the high side! its really not rocket science to do a search on the boards with a keyword,, unless you guys like asking the same ole questions to hear yourselves talk! simply type in the words STACK HEIGHT and read.........

if your talking clutches,, any part from 00-beyond is interchangable,, i am still waiting for an 02-up hub to cross my path so when its time for a clutch i can add it to my setup... just be aware that some models have one set of chatter rings and others have two, which in turn requires a different fiber setup (some will have one Large ID fiber and others will have two) i dont mean to be mean LOL its just when i am trying to find out something to help me trouble shoot an issue,, i turn the internet upside down and then if all fails i will ask for help and throw a question out there,, i guess it is easier to just post a question and wait ,, but i am the type guy that needs the answer NOW.. i cant wait for someone to get off work and maybe get on the board and post a response etc. but that is just me.. sorry if i offended anyone!
i too was a clutch question asker LOL and once i got all the info i needed and tackled it (turned out PERFECT) and still is.. i try and help when ever i can but sometimes it gets old because the same questions are asked.. i guess some people arent aware of the search option which is fine,, after this thread there will be more that are aware :rotflmao:

No worries, I didn't feel like doing a search mostly because I spent an hour looking before lol and most likely in the wrong places. But the reason I asked was because I have reason to believe my 00 basket is, how do you put it, falling apart. I was riding today, heard a slight pop and then got a very strange vibration from the engine. No abnormal smoke or sound but a big vibration. Not the normal vibration that is notorious with the 12. I did some research and found out that the basket could have broken off a chunk so I'm gonna be taking the cover off and have a looksie inside there. I have also heard the the baskets on the 12 aren't the strongest so that also has led me to believe that might be the cause. But long story short, I couldn't find a basket for 00-01 only 02-on so I wasn't sure if they were interchangeable.

So you mean to tell me the brake pads and chain are interchangeable too!?!? Hahaha

little tip to not take clutch out of adjustment,, just undo the two bolts that hold the cable mounted to the clutch cover and pull out the puller shaft,,,, the clutch can be inspected without draining the oil and all that is holding you back from looking inside are the clutch cover bolts! so why havent you done it yet? :rotflmao: takes all of 10 minutes....

Hahaha, time, about that.... It's hard to have time when going to school full time and working lol, but I might take it apart tonight when I get home assuming I don't have any school work due. Plus I'm working on my klx 650 too and that takes up some of my time. Hopefully I'll have an update tonight. Has this happened to anyone else?
