STUPID asking you boyz, I KNOW ! !
but,
I've shied away from buying these babies for several years now....
I've had a ZZR11 D4 from new and a Bandit12 for ~4 years now.

The ZZ is OK but needs 'winding-up' (?) 'specially wiv my 18stone on ! !

The Bandit on the other hand needs NO winding ! ! It just GOES.

I'll soon have ~ÂŁ5,000 cash coming (hopefully!) and will be 'parting' the
ZZR in for a ZX12 or a Haya'...

The things niggling are:
1] which best suits 6'3"/18stone ?
2] Hayabusa screen 'problem' ? (how bad ?)
3] Hayabusa 'cracking frame problem' ? (solved?/true?)
4] ZX12 'clutch problem' ? (WAS it ever 'Kawa'-solved ?)
5] and, just recently, Hayabusa 'snapping chain problem' ? (DOES it ?)
6] Is ZX12 REALLY that much worse on go-juice ? (or just same as Haya' ?)

I know it's hard for you to be UNBIASED !!!! but any OBJECTIVE
comments ??

(ps. I've had GPZ1100 and ZZR11 C previously and loved both but
Bandit has REALLY impressed with it's torque !!.................)

Thanks boyz (& girls ??)

XXX-Large.

#1 A ZX12 ( more room for big riders )

#2 Dont know

#3 Dont know

#4 Problem only affected 00-01's. 02 and up are good to go

#5 Any chain that is neglected will snap.

#6 Yes it is But if you are worried about gas milage then stick with your bandit. Around 100 miles per tank ( depending on for you ride )

I'm just a XXL guy myself ...about 16 stone and only 5'8"

You answered your own question, but let me decode it or you...

1. ZX-12
2. Very bad ..at 5'8" the screen even obstructs my view of the gauges.
3. Busa's Suck
4. Corrected on 02 & Later
5. Busa's Suck
6. Who cares I got 179 rwhp and Busa's Suck

I hope that helps .... BTW ..Busa's Suck and look like pregnated elephants

THANKS for the COMPLETELY unbiARSEd opinions lads...

'specially MarkPMB and planttec...... :)

i DO prefer the look of the ZX (OBVIOUSLY...i'm not BLIND !)

I e-mailed UK Kawasaki yesterday, and they said there has NEVER been a
clutch problem with the ZX.............. :x

WHY can't they just own up to, what are just 'normal' mechanical problems ?

I even started by saying "IF you've solved the problem....blah..blah"

not TOO fussed about mileage, Bandit is giving ~35 they way I'm thrashing it nowdays.

Next problem will be colour.......................................

pink?...........lilac?.................'hint-of-Buttercup'?............

let you know how it goes........ FatS.

..ps.....

PLANTTEC ! !

at least the "Hayabugly" beauty has a better SMILE ! ! !

(must be the "ugly-birds-have-better-temperament" thingie ! ! )

[maybe THAT's why i go for UGLY chicks ??.......nothin' to do wiv MY
back-of-a-bus looks ?? :? ]

Depends what you want the 12 clutch for. Mate has a 12 with 50km on the clock (2000 model) i have one with 30k on. no issues with normal sport touring/medium hard riding. Here in oz busa has not reconised issue with rear subframe but reports have the later models with a steel frame.
Buy the 12 wieght of the rider is not an issue. Just hang on.

I HAVE HAD A ZZR1100 FOR YEARS AND LOOKED INTO BOTH ZX12'S AND BUSA'S WHEN I DECIDED TO CHANGE. I TESTED BOTH AND BASICALLY I FOUND THIS, THE BUSA FELT LIKE A NEW VERSION OF MY ZZR. LONG TOURY IF YOU UNDERSTAND. MY ZZR WAS TUNED TO THE MAX SO THE DIFFERENCE DETWEEN THAT AND THE BUSA WAS NOT MUCH. WHEN I TESTED THE 12 IT WAS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT. I WAS ON A SPORTS BIKE AGAIN NOT MY DADS. THE LOOK, THE FEEL, EVERYTHING I WAS AFTER. I AM 6'2" AND 19STONE AND THE 12 SUITS ME JUST FINE. ANOTHER BIG THING FOR ME WAS THIS, HAVING HAD A ZZR FOR YEARS I WAS SICK OF ALL THE REALLY COOL TRICK BITS ONLY BEING AVAILABLE FOR SPORTIER BIKES. I THINK THE SAME IS HAPPENING FOR THE BUGLY, IT WILL DRIVE YOU CRAZY. BUT THE 12 IS IN THAT GROUP OF BIKES THAT THE MANUFACTURERES WANT TO MAKE STUFF FOR. IT IS CRAP ON JUICE THOUGH BUT IT'S WORTH IT.

I have sat on both the 12 and busa, I am 6'2 250 pounds (around 18 stones), and the zx12 was just a better feel. The busa felt like I was sitting on a gsxr750.

As for the gas part, well, both of them will eat it up pretty much the same, so I don't think it will be that much of a difference.

I have a 2001 w/NOS and I have almost 20K on the clock and my clutch has given me 0 trouble thus far. It has been to the strip about a dozen times as well.

Fuel mileage sucks, but I didn't get a 12 to save on gas. I am only about 6 ft but I find the 12 has way more legroom than the busa and feels better while cornering.

22 friggin large ass stones here 6'4" own a 12 only after riding a busa... the busa seemd less nimble but more bottom end grunt.. however it lost it when the revs came up and the 12 shines.. The clutch problem you are refering to was fixed by adding holes in the clutch basket to improve oil flow (I belive) and it was fixed for the 02 and up model. the 12 is a little short for me Im a funky build with a long toros and getting down behind the screen is tough.. I need to invest in a double bubble screen and it would help..however on the busa it was just a nogo.. no room.. oh and the exhaust is not Stainless its Titanium..

Busa owner here

1 - both, depends on technique and personal choice of feel
2 - never heard of this. maybe cuz people buy a double bubble? I just tuck lower. :) mine stays on over 180
3 - I think that was a previous years' issue and believe it's fixed
4 - unknown to me, sorry
5 - I've heard incidences, but nothing really conclusive. I suppose if you don't adjust tension with all that power you are asking for trouble
6 - busa: I get 32-40 "ripping" around in town and have seen 49.9 mpg [indicated] on the highway at 80ish mph.

There's MY unbiased view as Hayab usa owner. I sat on 12r and busa side by side at shop while deciding and liked the lower center of gravity on the busa, as well as it's unique looks. Personal Preferences. I'd a bought the 12R in a second, if the busa never existed. Good luck!
